Histemo FAQs

1. How Many Rounds of Shampooing Should I Do Each Time I Wash My Hair?

The number of shampoo rounds per wash depends on your scalp’s oil production, use of styling products, and cleansing needs. Here’s the recommended approach for different scalp types:

  • Dry or Sensitive Scalp (low sebum, prone to dryness): One round of shampooing is enough, unless there is noticeable buildup or clogging.

  • Normal to Mildly Oily Scalp (slight oil buildup): 1-2 rounds. If you wash daily, one round is sufficient. If styling products or excess oil are present, two rounds ensure a thorough cleanse.

  • Oily Scalp (prone to oiliness and buildup): Two rounds. The first round removes surface oil and dirt, while the second deeply cleanses the follicles.

  • Scalp with Excess Buildup, Heavy Oil Accumulation, or Dandruff: Three rounds. An extra wash helps break down old keratin and prevents clogged follicles, improving scalp health.

Additional Washing Tips:

  • Optimal water temperature: 35-45°C (warm but not too hot).
  • Final round of shampoo: Allow shampoo to lather into a fluffy foam first, then leave it to sit for 2-3 minutes (up to 5 minutes if needed) to maximize the absorption of active ingredients for better results.

2. Why Is It Difficult to Create Lather When Shampooing?

The ability to lather depends on the level of oil, dirt, and product buildup on the scalp. Excess sebum, residual styling products, or environmental pollutants can hinder foam formation. Since shampoo surfactants first bind to these impurities before creating lather, a lack of foam often signals a dirtier scalp. When lathering is difficult, additional rounds of shampooing may be needed to thoroughly cleanse the scalp, activate the shampoo’s ingredients, and maximize its effectiveness.

Solutions/Tips:

  • Rinse scalp with warm water first: Helps dissolve some oil, allowing shampoo to work more effectively.
  • Shampoo twice: The first wash removes surface dirt and oil, while the second creates a richer lather and deeply cleanses the follicles.
  • Avoid excessively hot water: High temperatures can overstimulate sebaceous glands, increasing oil production and reducing the shampoo's effectiveness.

3. Why Does Hair Shedding Increase After Using Histemo Products?

This is a temporary adjustment phase that typically lasts 1-2 weeks, while postpartum women may experience it for 4-6 weeks. Histemo products stimulate scalp blood circulation and accelerate hair renewal, helping hair transition more quickly into the active growth phase. As a result, older hairs in the resting phase may shed earlier, creating space for new, healthier hair growth.

This natural process indicates scalp improvement. To achieve optimal results, it is recommended to continue using the product consistently and allow time for new hair to emerge.

4. Why Does My Scalp Feel Itchy and Develop Small Pimples After Using Histemo Products?

This is a scalp detox reaction as Histemo products accelerate keratin renewal and sebum metabolism. This process may temporarily expel accumulated waste and buildup from hair follicles, leading to increased itchiness and small breakouts. If follicles were already clogged, the active ingredients may stimulate sebum discharge, causing temporary sensitivity or mild inflammation.

Solutions:

  • Continue using the product consistently for at least 3-4 weeks – as the scalp adjusts, symptoms should gradually subside.
  • Avoid excessive scratching or irritation to prevent inflammation or potential infection, especially if the skin is broken.
  • Ensure thorough rinsing to remove any product residue, reducing the risk of follicle irritation.
  • Consult your provider if symptoms persist beyond 4-6 weeks – you may need a scalp reassessment scan or guidance on proper product usage.

5. Why Does My Scalp Become Oily After Using Nutritioner?

Histemo Nutritioner contains highly concentrated nutrients, designed to nourish both the hair and scalp. However, if not rinsed thoroughly or if the product is not suited for your scalp condition, it may lead to increased oiliness or a greasy sensation.

Usage Recommendations for Different Scalp Types:

  • Dry Scalp (prone to dryness and tightness): Apply an appropriate amount to both the hair and scalp, ensuring thorough rinsing to prevent residue buildup.

  • Normal Scalp (balanced oil levels, occasional oiliness): Apply lightly to the hair strands first, then use any remaining Nutritioner on your palms to briefly and gently massage the scalp, avoiding excessive product application and prolonged scalp contact.

  • Oily Scalp (prone to excessive oil and buildup): Avoid direct application to the scalp—focus only on the mid-lengths to ends of the hair to prevent excess buildup and heaviness.

  • Sensitive or Clogged Scalp (prone to dandruff, inflammation, or follicle congestion): Apply only to the hair, avoiding direct contact with the scalp. Instead, use targeted scalp serums instead for optimal care.

Important Tip:

Always rinse thoroughly after using Nutritioner to prevent product buildup, which could impact scalp health.

6. Is It Necessary to Use Nutritioner After Shampooing?

Not always—it depends on your hair type and scalp condition. If you have short hair, an oily scalp, or scalp sensitivity, you may choose to skip Nutritioner to prevent excess buildup on the follicles.

For dry or damaged hair, Nutritioner provides deep nourishment and repair, helping to strengthen the hair structure, enhance smoothness and resilience, and reduce frizz and breakage.

7. Why Does My Scalp Still Feel Oily After Washing, Even Without Using a Nutritioner?

If your scalp remains oily after washing, it could be due to improper washing techniques, unsuitable products, excessively hot water, incomplete drying, or incorrect use of hair oils—all of which can disrupt sebum balance.

Solutions:

  • Ensure thorough rinsing: Rinse with clean, running water for at least 30-60 seconds (a fun challenge: try counting it out, it’s longer than you might expect) to fully remove residue and prevent buildup that could impact scalp health.

  • Avoid using overly hot water: Keep water temperature between 35-45°C, as excessive heat can overstimulate sebaceous glands, leading to increased oil production.

  • Double Shampooing: Wash your hair at least twice per session—the first round lifts surface oil and buildup, while the second round deeply cleanses the scalp and hair roots for a more thorough refresh.

  • Properly Dry Scalp After Washing: Avoid using excessively high heat when blow-drying. Instead, use low to medium heat to prevent overstimulating oil production. Ensure the scalp is fully dry (avoid air-drying) to maintain a balanced and healthy environment.

8. Why Has My Gray Hair Increased After Using Histemo Products?

The growth of gray hair is primarily influenced by genetics, stress, nutrition, scalp health, and aging. Histemo products work by stimulating scalp microcirculation, activating hair follicles, and accelerating hair renewal, promoting the growth of all hair strands, including both gray and pigmented hair.

As a result, existing gray hairs may grow faster and become more noticeable. However, this is a positive sign of healthy hair growth and improved scalp health, not a side effect of the product. Since hair growth cannot selectively target only pigmented hair, both gray and black hairs will grow. You can continue using Histemo products with confidence.

9. Is It Okay to Let My Hair Air Dry After Washing?

It is not recommended to let your hair air dry after washing, as prolonged dampness can create a moist environment that promotes bacterial and fungal growth, potentially affecting scalp health.

Proper Blow-Drying Techniques:

  • Avoid Excessive Heat: Use a low to medium heat setting to prevent damage and avoid overstimulating the scalp.

  • Keep a safe distance: Hold the dryer 15-20 cm away from your scalp to prevent heat from overstimulating sebaceous glands.

  • Blow-dry the scalp first: Focus on thoroughly drying the scalp before moving on to the hair strands. This helps prevent a damp environment that can affect scalp health.

  • Use a protective product:
    - Histemo G Tonic, T Tonic or C Calming Serum:
Apply directly to the scalp before blow-drying to protect and nourish the scalp.

    - Histemo E Hair Essence:
Apply a small amount to the
mid-lengths and ends before blow-drying to lock in moisture, protect the hair cuticle, and provide UV protection.

10. Am I Suitable to Use Scalp and Hair Growth Serum?

Histemo Hair and scalp treatment serums are designed to replenish essential scalp nutrients, regulate oil production, and support follicle health. However, to maximize the effectiveness of these serums, it’s crucial to start with the right foundation.

Stage 1: Cleanse, Unclog, Regulate, Balance, Restore

We recommend using Histemo shampoo along with proper hair-washing techniques for at least 2 weeks as the first stage. This helps to:

  • Remove excess sebum and buildup
  • Regulate oil production
  • Rebalance the scalp to relieve itchiness, sensitivity, inflammation, or irritation
  • Address signs of dandruff

Serums are not recommended for immediate use, especially if the scalp is oily, clogged, or experiencing issues. A healthy, balanced scalp is essential for optimal absorption of active ingredients. Selecting the appropriate targeted treatment serum should be part of stage 2, after scalp health has been restored.

Stage 2: Treat, Enhance, Nourish, Renew, Growth

Once your scalp is balanced and healthy, you can progress to using targeted serums. Based on your specific concerns, choose the appropriate Histemo serums to treat scalp concerns, prevent hair thinning, strengthen hair strands, enhance healthy hair growth and promote long-term scalp health.
